I give this movie an 11/10 because of the creative and hilarious scenes throughout the movie. Additionally, the movie could be for all ages to love and I would definitely recommend this movie for anyone who needs a smile. However, my 18-year-old sister and her friend both commented after the movie that they hated the movie and were very dissatisfied about the turn out. Maybe they weren’t in the best moods or were expecting more than what was shown, but I would definitely watch it more than once. I would expect that children would love this movie because of the songs and moral of the plot.
The movie as produced by Illumination Entertainment, with the help of director, Garth Jennings, and presented this animated, family- friendly movie called “Sing”. The release date in the U.S. was December 21, 2016 and received $35,258,145 on the opening weekend. This concludes that the movie obtained a #2 rank in 4,022 theaters, and received $8,766 on average.
This movie is about Koala Buster Moon, snazzy and smart, who is in charge of a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times after his father granted the theater as his. He had always loved theater as a child, and knew from the first time he laid eyes on it, that he was going to be a director. When money falls short because of unsatisfactory performances from his previous shows, he tries to make one more show that will lead him in the path of success. Buster Moon produces a show called “The World's Greatest Singing Competition”, but does not obtain the knowledge that he typed in the cash prize on the flyers two times his original amount. This sparks the whole town to try their best to sing, and the final five contestants emerge: an arrogant mouse, a shy elephant, a dedicated pig, a gangster gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine. The shocking end of the movie gives off a great motto of never giving up on your dreams. During the competition and auditions were familiar songs such as “The Way I Feel Inside”, “Baker Street”, and “Crazy in Love”, all written by famous artists such as John Lennon, Jennifer Hudson, and Jay Z. Also familiar to the public were the voices of these characters, such as Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth McFarlane, and Scarlett Johansson. I would suppose that knowing most of the songs and the voices of the characters would attract more viewers and provide better reviews in general.
