Autumn Playlist

[dropcap custom_class="normal"]F[/dropcap]all has arrived upon us, and although we all enjoyed the upbeat, pop tunes that overflowed the radio this summer, it’s time to trade it in for the relaxing, acoustic music that accompanies our upcoming autumn. It’s finally the time of year we can pull our favorite sweaters from the closet, have valid weather reasons for needing to drink hot chocolate during the day, and alternate to a slower music genre while driving through the crisp air. “When I think of ‘fall songs’ I think of music that I would hear in a coffee shop; something I could see myself listening to while wrapped up in blankets in my room,” spills Advanced Dance star, Alex Salgado. One of the first tracks off the playlist, “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas and Papas, has perfect harmonies in the opening discussing the changing colors of the leaves during the autumn period, and the song is perfect for a night while driving with your friends in the cold air. Ed Sheeran’s, “Cold Coffee” is a great song to listen to while trying to stay warm in your room, and while you are drinking your warm coffee this November. Also, for those who prefer their music to be more acoustic guitar based, The Grateful Dead’s, “Friend of the Devil,” Fleetwood Mac’s, “Never Going Back Again,” Green Day’s “Macy’s Day Parade,” and Panic! At the Disco’s, “Northern Downpour,” are all based on a crisp acoustic guitar sound, with soft vocals to balance out the soft combination. “I think the acoustic guitar makes the season of fall. It’s relaxing like fall, and I feel like it really captures the vibes autumn gives off,” says junior, Allie Kardously. For those who like their songs to be a little heaver, and louder: “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” by Green Day, “Down by the River” and “Fairytale” by Milky Chance, “Folkin’ Around” by Panic! At the Disco, and “The Two of Us,” by The Beatles are more focused on keeping steady beats and emphasize more on the rhythm of the song. Compared to some of the earlier mentioned acoustic tunes, they are more upbeat and heavier. Having my main passion in life be music, I have made a playlist dedicated to the season of fall compiled of songs that I hope you can imagine yourself listening to while wearing your fuzzy socks and carving pumpkins with your friends!
